carlos for congress

When Sutter County Deputy District Attorney Tony Carlos called us up to say he was running for Congress we were pretty stoked.

Not only do we believe in Tony's capabilities to do an excellent job if elected, we know that he is a sincere man of the highest integrity and so it didn't take much contemplating for us to accept the project of designing Tony's campaign logo and website!

While we went through several rounds of sketches while developing his logo, Tony decided he ultimately just wanted a wordmark (standardized text logo). We decided to also incorporate a graphical element to make the wordmark more memorable and less traditional.

Tony didn't want the logo to look too far from traditional, so we decided to keep a deep blue and red for the color palette, but to make it more modern we chose a sans serif typeface. The "o" was made to be reminiscent of an American flag, and we included 3 stars since Tony is running for the 3rd Congressional district in California.

We also designed wwww.carlos2012.com with much input from Tony. The website is designed to be engaging and easy to navigate for the visitors. After we designed the site, we handed it over to the web experts at Tandem Web Solutions to bring it to life and they did an excellent job.

We are currently working on customizing the Carlos 2012 twitter and facebook pages, along with some coordinating print collateral. It has been an honor working with Tony and we can't wait to see what the future holds for him!

sunflower natural foods market-advertisments

A couple months ago, Yuba City's oldest and most loved health food store, Sunflower Natural Foods Market, contacted us about vectorizing a new logo concept by Dr. Afato (Sunflower is owned by the Afato Family).

After cleaning up and vectorizing the two designs, we took the initial concept of Dr. Afato and simplified it further. The end result ended up being the chosen concept, and with minor edits, is now the new face of Sunflower Natural Food Markets!

Needles to say, we were thrilled when they came back and asked us to design some advertisements for some free community events they offer.

We created text boxes playing off the organic feel of the letterforms Billy created for the new logo and found a way to cleanly present all the needed information.

These two ads will soon be published in our local newspaper. We also designed handbills and posters to further promote these awesome, free events! Thanks for thinking Different By Design, Sunflower!
